NAD Master Series: What happens when the
wizards at NAD give themselves a much bigger budget
to play with? The powerful M3 integrated amplifier
($2999) and remarkable M5 CD/SACD player
($1799) are both in stock and on display. To quote
one review, the M3 "... should attain the status of
audiophile legend..."
PSB Synchrony model range-- all four now on
display at Audio Systems. Designer Paul Barton says
that the Synchrony One ($5000/pair) has the lowest
distortion of any speaker he has measured, and a
envelope of +/- 1db from 70hz to 10Khz. These are
superb specifications, backed up by listening results.
Starting at $1750 a pair. Well worth checking out!
Synchrony One and One B
NAD T587 Blu-ray Player on display. Click
this link for NAD's own description of the features
and performance-- there are many aspects to the
$1499 T587 performance. We think you will be
impressed when you see and hear it.
Audio Research DAC 7 Converter
Computer stored music playback is here. Once you find
how easy to listen to all of your music (no physical
searching!), change what you are listening to, worldwide
internet radio... well, this is the way things will be. Not for
everyone, of course, but for many. The new Audio
Research DAC 7 digital to analog converter ($3495)
moves the Squeezebox Duet and Sonos reproduction
quality into contenders for the best sound available. Of
course, you can also use the DAC 7 for CD players and
transports. Come in for a listen.
New Imagine speakers are here
The new PSB Imagine loudspeakers extend the
quality of the Synchrony series to new, lower prices.
Nonetheless, Paul Barton will not call these "Synchrony
Juniors". While the Imagine speakers are clearly
influenced by the Synchrony series, the $2000
floorstanding speakers and $1000 bookshelf models set
new standards for construction detail and low
distortion. You will be surprised and pleased by both.
The new Rega RS series of loudspeakers have arrived-- a
very nice improvement over the older models. Now
featuring all drivers made by Rega themselves, which allows a
much simpler crossover, which allows much cleaner sound.
The cabinets, too, have a higher standard of finish. As is
typical with Rega, these are very good values. The Rega
RS-1 (shown) is $695 per pair, and the RS5 three way
floorstanding speaker is $1595 for the pair.
A product worth waiting for-- finally here. The Nova
combines an extraordinarily high quality DAC with a
class A preamp, and an 80 watt per channel amplifier--
all for $1199.00. With numerous digital and analog
inputs, the Nova is ready for server based and CD
transport music systems, plus you can use the USB
input to stream movies through your sound system.
Cambridge Audio has a winner in the "best way to
improve your digital sound for not much money"
(OK, we made up the category-- but a lot of people
are looking for this solution). The DACMagic, at
$429, provides a simple way to make your digital
stream sound better. Not a Audio Research DAC7,
but really good, all the same. On display, in stock.
